| Ask Governor Nixon to Sign HB 209 – Agriculture Nuisance Reform Act
Stop the Abuse of Missouri’s Nuisance Laws and Protect Missouri’s Farms and Farmers http://governor.mo.gov/contact
- Out-of-state trial attorneys have spent millions of dollars recruiting and creating lawsuits against Missouri’s farmers, farms, and agribusinesses. Even after a string of unsuccessful efforts, they continue to file suit after suit in an effort to “win the big one” and fill their pockets with money they take off the backs of Missouri’s farming community.
- Overzealous activists are intent on harassing and suing the state’s agriculture producers in a concerted and coordinated effort to harm the state’s farming interests in an effort to create a socialistic small farm model that will not provide a safe, abundant and affordable food supply. Recent activist activity and litigation has been aimed squarely at the independent producers and contract farmers in a concerted effort to put them out of business in Missouri.
- Anti-meat activists and overzealous groups who oppose modern farming practices are increasingly vocal in their opposition to animal agriculture and farming rights at the state and local levels.
- Overzealous activists are targeting production methods as a means for destroying our state’s animal agriculture industry.
- Liberal media focus on the negative, as well as far fetched, utopian ideas of farm life, rather than promoting the truth about modern agriculture.
- County Commissions and anti-farm interests are using zoning laws and health ordinances to ban modern farming practices in rural counties.
- Missouri’s agricultural industry, made up of thousands of hard working men, women, and families, is busy taking care of crops and animals and has historically been focused at doing their job producing the best quality and safest food in the world and has ignored these attacks; however, they can no longer be ignored or tolerated.
